Experience floating in icy waters without the cold, even if you can’t swim. Hike in a Viking forest, enjoy fire-cooked Swedish flavor,s and drift weightlessly in the Baltic in one unforgettable day.
Your day begins at a central meeting point in Stockholm, where you’ll meet your guide and the rest of the group. After a short welcome and overview of the day, we board a comfortable minivan and leave the city behind.
We drive out to Bogesund Nature Reserve, a peaceful escape surrounded by forest and water. The journey is short but scenic, setting the tone for a day spent fully outdoors.
Once in Bogesund, we set off on a guided hike through mossy “troll forests,” quiet paths, and viewpoints over the water. Along the way, your guide shares stories about Viking history, local wildlife, and the unique nature of this area. After the hike, we gather around an open fire to cook traditional Swedish meatballs and enjoy a rustic outdoor lunch.

In the afternoon, we transfer to our base at Skärgårdens Kanotcenter. Here you can relax, change clothes if needed, and warm up with a classic Swedish fika — freshly brewed coffee and pastries shared in a cozy setting.

After fika, it’s time to try cold-water floating. You’ll change into warm, buoyant floating suits and step down to the Baltic. Lying back in the calm water, you’ll feel weightless, warm, and completely supported — a soothing experience that’s more like drifting than swimming.

At the end of the tour, you can choose how to return. If you booked pick-up and drop-off, we drive you back to the original meeting point in central Stockholm. If you prefer to continue exploring, you can skip the transfer and we will drop you in Vaxholm, where you can make your own way back by public transport or stay longer by the sea.
Dress for the weather! This is an outdoor autumn/winter experience, so we recommend warm, layered clothing and a windproof/waterproof jacket. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes suitable for forest trails (no heels, sandals, or flip-flops). For the floating, you’ll wear a thermal floating suit over your regular clothes, so bring comfy, non-bulky layers rather than tight jeans.
Absolutely! This tour is beginner-friendly. The hike is easy-level (about 1.5–2 hours) on forest paths, and no previous outdoor experience is needed. For the floating, you simply relax in the suit — no swimming skills required. A moderate level of physical fitness and comfort walking on uneven ground is recommended. Minimum age is 16, and for safety there are size limits (approx. 140–200 cm / max 110 kg).
No. You’ll be wearing a warm, buoyant thermal floating suit that keeps you afloat and dry, and we stay in calm, sheltered water with a guide supervising. You don’t need to swim at all — just lie back and enjoy the feeling of weightlessness. However, you should feel comfortable being in and around water and be free from serious medical conditions or pregnancy.
We can’t guarantee specific animals, but Bogesund Nature Reserve is home to birds and forest wildlife such as deer. Often we see or hear animals, or spot tracks and other signs along the way. Even if they stay hidden, you’ll enjoy magical “troll forests,” views over the water, and rich, peaceful nature.
We don’t offer hotel pick-up (unless arranged for private groups), but for this tour you do have pick-up from Tekniska Högskolan Metro Station in Stockholm included. Just meet us there at the start time shown in your booking. It’s an easy central location to reach by public transport.
The meeting point for this tour is Tekniska Högskolan Metro Station in central Stockholm. It’s easy to reach by public transport. Take the metro (Tunnelbana) to Tekniska Högskolan — several lines stop there, and it’s just a few minutes from Stockholm City. Follow the signs to the street level and look for your guide at the agreed meeting exit (details in your booking confirmation). From there, you’ll travel together by minivan to Bogesund Nature Reserve.
You have two options:
If you booked the Stockholm drop-off option, we’ll drive you back to Tekniska Högskolan Metro Station after the tour.
If you choose the Vaxholm drop-off option, we’ll drop you there and you can return by public transport — for example, bus 670 via Danderyds sjukhus or a scenic ferry back to central Stockholm.
Both options are easy and well-connected, so you can pick what suits your plans best.
Safety first! This is very much a fall/winter experience, and we happily run the tour in cold, frosty, or snowy conditions — they often make the forest and floating even more special. However, if storms, strong winds, or other severe weather make hiking or floating unsafe, we’ll offer to reschedule your tour or provide a full refund.
Yes! We cook traditional Swedish meatballs (sometimes with wild game) over an open fire and serve a Swedish fika with coffee and pastries. We can often accommodate common dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, or lactose-free options if you let us know in advance. Just add your dietary requests when booking so we can prepare something tasty for you. 🍪☕

Yes! At Skärgårdens Kanotcenter, you’re welcome to leave larger items like suitcases or backpacks securely on-site during your tour.
For smaller items you’d like to bring — such as a camera, extra layer, or water bottle — we recommend a small daypack that you can carry on the hike and keep with you at the center. There are changing rooms for getting into/out of your floating suit, and we suggest leaving valuables you don’t need safely stored rather than bringing them into the water.
