Private Winter Kayaking, Swedish Fika & Hot Sauna

3h winter kayak & fika with optional sauna add-on

Winter kayaking in the Stockholm Archipelago is a truly special, private experience. You’ll have your own guide, your own pace, and plenty of time to soak up the quiet beauty of the season — gliding through icy waters, surrounded by snow-dusted islands. Along the way, we’ll pause for a traditional Swedish fika out in nature (because winter tastes better with something warm).

Practical Info & What’s Included

What to Expect on Your Private Winter Kayaking Tour

You’ll meet your private guide at Skärgårdens Kanotcenter on Resarö, just outside Stockholm. After check-in, we’ll get you comfortably set up with everything you need for winter paddling: a premium drysuit, boots, and gloves (all included). Wear warm layers underneath — wool or thermals work best. You can leave your belongings at the kayak center, and pack anything you’d like to bring on the water into a waterproof drybag.

Family kayaking together in a winter landscape
Before we launch, your guide will run through a clear safety briefing and teach you the paddling basics. We’ll practice a few strokes on land first, then ease into the water at a relaxed pace. No previous kayaking experience is needed — your guide will adjust instruction to your comfort level.

This is where the magic happens: calm, icy waters, snow-dusted islands, and that quiet winter stillness you only get off-season. Your guide will choose the route based on wind, weather, and ice conditions — and just as importantly, based on your pace and preferences.

Along the way, you’ll pass charming holiday cottages and scenic shorelines glowing in soft winter light. Because it’s private, there’s time for extra photo stops, slower moments, and a route that feels made for you.

We’ll pause for a proper Swedish fika — a warm drink and something sweet — in a spot that fits the day. Depending on conditions, we might stop on a peaceful island or return to our cozy kayak center. Either way, it’s a perfect moment to warm up, relax, and refuel.

If you add the sauna, you’ll end your tour with a classic Swedish ritual: a traditional wood-fired sauna by the sea. Between sauna sessions, you’re welcome to take a quick cold-water dip — totally optional, but very local.

It’s the ultimate winter reset, and a pretty unbeatable way to wrap up the experience feeling warm, recharged, and slightly invincible. Towels can be rented on-site if needed.

Absolutely! This tour is beginner-friendly, and your guide will give you a quick introduction before we start. The waters are calm, making it a great experience even for first-time paddlers. However, a moderate level of physical fitness is recommended.

We mainly use 2-person kayaks as they’re easy to paddle and perfect for most participants. If you’re paddling solo and have experience, you may be given a 1-person kayak. In case of an odd number of participants, we may pair up people to ensure everyone has a great experience. Our guide will assist with this! 😊
