Wild Camping in Sweden

Curious about wild camping in Sweden? Discover how to enjoy your own island for a night—freely and respectfully—thanks to Sweden’s Right of Public Access.

Why not paddle out and make your own little island home for the night? With thousands of islands in the Stockholm Archipelago, wild camping offers a peaceful and unforgettable experience.

In Sweden, we’re lucky to have Allemansrätten—the Right of Public Access. It allows you to paddle, hike, and camp almost anywhere in nature, as long as you respect wildlife, the environment, and other people. And most importantly: leave no trace.

🌿 How wild camping works
You’re allowed to put up your tent in the same place for up to two nights, as long as you:
• Stay a respectful distance from private homes and buildings
• Avoid sensitive or protected areas
• Don’t disturb animals or damage vegetation

The golden rule: enjoy nature without leaving a single trace behind.
