Junior Kayak Rental Assistant

We are a family kayaking business in search of passionate and enthusiastic young individuals who are interested in earning extra income during the summer while being outdoors in a beautiful environment. 

As a Junior Kayak Rental Assistant, you will be responsible for preparing camping packages for guests going on multiday kayaking trips, helping with daily rentals, and assisting with company events or school classes. 

The ideal candidate will have an interest in water and outdoor activities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare camping packages for guests going on multiday kayaking trips, ensuring all equipment is appropriate and in good working order
  • Assist with daily kayak rentals by organizing equipment
    Hand out equipment to customers and help to provide instruction on how to use it safely
  • Perform simple cleaning tasks, keeping our base clean and clean returned equipment
    Communicate effectively with customers, especially those who are international, in English
  • Assist with company events or school classes by preparing the kayak center for the event, handing out equipment, and answering basic questions.
    Maintain a high standard of customer service by being friendly, approachable, and helpful at all times
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure the safety of guests and staff

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18
  • Interest in water and outdoor activities highly appreciated
  • Availability to work 2-5 days per week during the main season (July and August), with the possibility of working on weekends during the off-season (May, June, and September)
  • Strong communication skills in English mandatory, Swedish recommended, knowledge of other languages is an advantage
  • Attention to detail, especially when checking and organizing equipment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and guidelines

Kayak Rental and Tour Support Coordinator

Seasonal: May – September, 3 – 5 days a week

We are a kayaking business dedicated to providing our guests with the best possible experience, and as a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping us achieve that goal. You will have the opportunity to work with people from all over the world, while enjoying a fun and friendly work environment.
 
As a Kayak Rental and Tour Support Coordinator, you will play an integral role in ensuring our guests have an exceptional experience from start to finish. The main focus of your work will be to handle daily rental operations, including greeting customers, managing bookings in our system, providing safety and area briefings and preparing gear. To keep things interesting, you’ll also provide support to our tour guides on the water when we have large groups, acting as a support guide. Don’t worry if you don’t have prior experience; we provide training for this role.

We highly appreciate candidates who are available to start working with us from May until the end of September. During the months of May and September, we can offer part-time positions for those who are still enrolled at university, for example. However, we value applicants who are willing to work full-time during the high season, from mid-June to mid-September.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow daily opening procedures
  • Be able to work with our booking system on tablet or computer (we will provide training) and hand out equipment accordingly to the booking
  • Meet and greet customers, providing safety and area briefings for daily rentals
  • Become familiar with and know how to operate all gear that we rent
  • Support our team of guides on water as a guide when needed for larger groups
  • Work with diverse people in a supportive and positive manner, always being polite and professional
  • Drive a van and trailer will be an advantage
  • Check and maintain equipment to ensure they are in good working condition

 

Key skills and requirements:

  • Communicative English (both spoken and written), knowledge of Swedish preferable, other languages (French, German) will be an advantage
  • Interests in water and outdoor activities
  • Having prior kayaking experience would be beneficial
  • Be able to work with our booking system on tablet or computer (we will provide training)
  • Physical stamina is important as you will be on your feet and may need to paddle
  • Positive attitude and desire to learn new skills in the outdoor industry
  • The high standards of customer service
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and guidelines

Kayak Tour Guide / Instructor

Part-time / full-time / freelance / 
2 – 5 days a week
 
We are looking for sea kayaking leaders to guide half day kayak tours and occasionally – depending on your experience and skills – overnight tours and kayaking courses. 
 
At Skärgårdens Kanotcenter we are providing travellers and visitors with enjoyable tour experiences in Stockholm Archipelago. We are looking for outgoing and enthusiastic outdoor guides who like challenges, enjoy being outdoors and have passion to show the best Vaxholm and archipelago has to offer. We expect guides to be strong leaders, with original interests about nature, wildlife, history, good teachers and communicators and handy with the typical equipment used on trips. We work with both certified guides and enthusiasts in their fields.

  • Local knowledge of Sweden and Stockholm Archipelago
  • Strong leader with good communication skills, safety judgment and positive attitude
    communicative English,
  • Knowledge of other foreign languages will be an advantage (French, Swedish)
  • EPP or BCU course (minimum level 3* or equivalent skills)
  • Minimum age 24

Outdoor Equipment Coordinator

Seasonal: May – September
2 – 4 days a week
 
We are looking for young people who want to earn something extra during summer while working under the swedish sun in the archipelago. Since our rental opens in May, we are also happy to get your support on weekends before the big holiday season starts. It’s perfect for younger students or first grade university students. 
 
As an kayak rental and gear assistant you prepare camping packages for our guests who go on multiday kayaking trips. This comes with responsibility so our guests dont end up with the wrong equipment on an island. you also help out our daily rental team with handing out kayaks, life jackets, sprayskirts and paddles. If we have company events or school classes we appreciate your help in assisting with handing out equipment, assisting with preparing kayakcenter for the event or answer simple questions. You see with us, its never getting boring.

  • Checking returned equipment like tents and sleeping bags, that nothing is broken
  • Hand out equipment to people
  • Communicative English (both spoken and written) since we have a lot of international guests, knowledge of other languages (especially Swedish) will be an advantage
  • Interests in water and outdoor activities highly apriciated
  • The high standards of customer service

  • Working 2-5 days per week during main season, also off season May, June and September especially on weekends, we can discuss this together
