Covid19: Cancellation and rebooking 2022

We are travellers too and we understand how difficult it has become to plan and book adventures in advance in these unpredictable times. That is why we offer you as a customer the right for free rescheduling your activity. This means, you can postpone your booking or get a gift card valid 2 years (to be used at your convenience by you or your family/friends in the future), in case you are sick or when restrictions prevent you from visiting us.

This will also help us as a small business, and we would love to have you as our guest in the next few years. If you wish to make a cancellation, our regular cancellation policy applies.


The reservation is made on the web through our online reservation system. If reserving a private group tour, please contact us to have special rates applied to your reservation. The booking is binding after payment. You are obligated to provide all correct information required for the reservation procedure.

By payment, you accept our terms and conditions. English version of terms and conditions is binding (translation is made only for your convenience).

Payment schedule

Depending on the length of your booking we charge a deposit or total payment at the time of booking. For day tours and day rentals, we charge a full amount. For multiday rentals and packages, a deposit between 500 – 1,000 SEK is due at time of booking, the balance of your trip cost is due 14 days prior to departure. A reminder email will be sent automatically a few days before the due date.

Cancellation policy

Unless otherwise agreed, the following cancellation policy applies:

REGULAR DAY TOURS, DAY RENTALS (bookings up to 4 participants under the same reference)
If you must cancel your tour or day rental, your refund is as follows:
– 48 hours or more prior to the trip departure date – Full amount is refunded less a 200 SEK administration fee (per person).
– Less than 48 hours prior to the trip departure date and no show – No refund will be given.

PRIVATE TOURS, MULTIDAY RENTALS, PACKAGES AND GROUPS (bookings with 4 or more participants under the same reference)
If you must cancel your tour or rental, your refund is as follows:
– 30 days or more prior to the trip departure date – Full amount is refunded less a 200 SEK administration fee.
– 14-8 days prior to the trip departure date – 50% of total price is refunded.
– Less than 7 days prior to the trip departure date and no show – No refund will be given.

Please keep in mind that we may arrange different booking and cancellation terms for corporate groups, schools and events.

To avoid confusion, we require written notice of cancellation by email to info@kanotcenter.com. The refund will be made within 14 days. We will not refund payments or cancel booking if the weather conditions are unsatisfactory to the customer. We may be able to rebook if you contact us in advance (up to our availability).

Cancellations by Skärgårdens Kanotcenter

We reserve the right to make changes to the schedule or to cancel any rental or tour due to health, safety and weather conditions. In this case we offer rebooking for your activity or a full refund. Rebooking can be made within 2 years.

Customer’s Obligation

1/ You must show a valid ID-card or passport to sign the rental contract at the reception.
2/ When book any water activity you must be able to swim.
3/ You must wear buoyancy aid (included in the rental) all the time on the water.
4/ Smoking (at the kayak center and when wearing our gear) and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited.
5/ Plan your trip at your skill level and weather conditions. Tour plans must be communicated with us.
6/ Delays must be reported to us as soon as possible via call +46 8 541 377 90. Late returns will be charged an additional 500 SEK / each hour.
7/ Bring communication aid (phone/VHF).
8/ The customer must obey and understand the right of public access.
9/ The customer must also respect bird- and seal protection.

Responsibility and insurance

1/ All activities with hired equipment are at own risk and responsibility. We recommend all guests to have their own personal travel / medical insurance. We shall not be liable for any accident, loss of health or death of participants.
2/ Kayaking is considered as a small craft, and you are liable to follow the maritime law. All routes are open to normal traffic and you are responsible for conducting proper behaviour according to the traffic rules.
3/ We have the right to deny rental or joining the tour if the customer behaves inappropriately, shows signs of obviously bad judgment or for any other important for us reason. We don’t offer refund in this case.
4/ The kayak and all equipment must be returned in the same condition as when collected. Any damage will be charged. If the rudder or skeg is broken when you return the kayak or the fiberglass is damaged you’ll pay for the repair work and material, a cost starting from 2,000 SEK.
5/ The customer is responsible for damages and loss of equipment. Check your home- or travel insurance to find out how you are covered when renting a gear or booking a guided tour.
6/ In case of damaged equipment or any technical problems with the equipment during your trip, you are obliged to immediately inform us.
7/ It is your responsibility to return all equipment when agreed. We do not provide pickup service. In case you or your buddies have problems getting back in time, we recommend that you call boat taxi service. You are responsible to pay for the transportation.
8/ The rented equipment should be cleaned outside and inside when returned. Facilities for that you’ll find at our place. If you prefer us to clean it, we charge SEK 200 SEK / kayak.
9/ Collection and return time: collection and return during opening hours. When you rent for 24 hours you can even pick up kayak and other gear half an hour before the center closes and return it the next day (you need to inform us ahead).

Guided tours

1/ Health and fitness: normal physical condition which allows you for a few hours activity with the other group members and the guide pace is required. We are normally able to tailor the pace of the tour which enables everyone to paddle at an average pace. If you are not sure about your skills or condition, you may consider a private tour or lesson.
2/ Please make sure to be in place before the tour starts, if you are late the group may leave without you. We will not refund or rebook your tour.
3/ Our tours take place outdoor and will be affected by the weather. We recommend wearing proper outdoor clothes according to the weather and time of year and bringing extra waterproof clothes.

Gift card

1/ Gift cards are valid for one year.
2/ You can use it yourself or give as a present for someone else.
3/ Gift card applies to all our activities that we organize and carry out under our own control: kayak rentals, canoe rental, SUP rental, bike rental and tours.
4/ Gift cards are non-refundable.

General data protection regulation – GDPR

1/ We store your booking information in order to make a contract, invoice and communicate with you during the contract period.
2/ During our guided tours the guide can take photos that are shared on our website, social media with your consent. If you do not wish to appear on photos just let our guide know.
