Bogesund Nature Reserve is a hidden gem in the Stockholm Archipelago, where every paddle stroke and step on the trail reveals captivating wildlife, stunning landscapes, and whispers of an ancient past.
This adventure offers a seamless blend of canoeing and hiking in one of Sweden’s most scenic nature reserves. Navigate sheltered waters, discover Viking runestones, and hike through enchanting oak forests while enjoying the tranquility of the archipelago.
Experience easy-to-navigate waters perfect for beginners and families. Paddle silently through narrow fjords and spot wildlife, such as beavers, ospreys, and sea eagles, along the way.

For Cooler Months (May and September):
Outdoor clothes should be chosen based on the weather forecast. Avoid cotton and opt for quick-drying fabrics or merino wool instead. Quick-dry hiking pants or shorts, a thermal top, and wet shoes or sandals with proper straps (shoes you don’t mind getting wet) are recommended. Make sure to pack a fleece too, just in case it gets chilly later in the day.
In the event of rain or bad weather during your self-guided adventure, it’s essential to prioritize safety while waiting for the weather to clear. Remember to pack appropriate outdoor clothing to stay warm and dry. In Sweden, we believe there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes, so be prepared for any conditions. While thunderstorms are rare and usually pass quickly, it’s a good idea to bring along a book or cards to pass the time.
Absolutely! Our part of the archipelago is beginner-friendly, with calm waters and sheltered conditions. It’s not open sea with strong currents, so you can choose an easy route. We recommend going in groups of at least two for safety, and our canoes and double kayaks are particularly easy to handle, even for first-timers.
Our kayak center is easily accessible and affordable via public transportation, with the bus stop located just 100 meters away. We highly recommend arriving by bus and returning by ferry for a scenic and enjoyable journey.
To reach us, take the T14 subway line towards Mörby Centrum. Upon arrival at Danderyds sjukhus station, transfer to bus 670, which stops at the Engarn station, a short walk from our center. For more detailed information, including schedules and routes, please visit the waxholmsbolaget.se website. Tickets for the subway and bus can be purchased at sl.se.
