Safety Kayaking Gear

For a self-guided trip, you need proper route and weather planning. A 1:50,000 map with fairways, sea marks, buoys, and landmarks is essential – bring your own or rent/buy one on-site.

We also recommend spare gear for emergencies. A broken or lost paddle in a remote area can put you at risk without a backup. See below for key safety equipment we suggest based on our experience.

Camping Gear Rental

If you need full camping equipment for wild camping, we recommend our overnight packages. They include an expedition kayak or canoe for 2 people and all the gear listed above – and more.

If you only need selected items, you can rent them individually, subject to availability. These items cannot be booked online, so please send your request to info@kanotcenter.com.

Few important points

Before rental:

Read our General terms & conditions.
We recommend to book ahead. You can pick up booked gear during opening hours.
A waiver of liability must be signed prior to departure. Have your ID or passport with you. Take your mobile with you for safety reasons. Drybags are available at our place.
If you are planning a longer trip or if you have no experience and need an extended safety briefing and route consultation, it is best if you let us know about your arrival time (please note that weekends and mornings we are usually very busy and we ask for patience or avoiding this time).

During paddling:

Rental time includes safety briefing and route consultation with us.
Plan your route according to your skills and weather forecast. Make sure to return on time. Save some time for unpacking and washing equipment.
Wear clothing appropriate to weather conditions.
You are responsible for the gear. The rented equipment must be returned in the same condition as when you received it. In case of lost or damaged equipment you must pay what it costs to replace it. Please make sure your insurances are valid.
All routes are open to normal traffic and you are responsible for conducting proper behaviour according to the traffic rules.

When you are back:

Clean equipment (kayak / canoe / SUP) with the sponge and water available at our place. Make sure there is no water or sand left inside the boat. If you prefer us to clean it, we charge 200 SEK / gear.
Hang up the life vest on the drying racks. Give back the drybag and the map.
