Avoid cotton and seek for synthetic and thermal clothing. Wear warm thermal underwear as a base layer and tights and fleece as a middle layer. Remember to keep your feet and head warm – wear double socks, preferably wool and a warm hat. You should also have sunglasses on a sunny day. Kayaking is an adventure in any weather. In Sweden, we say, ‘There’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes.’ You’ll be amazed at how enjoyable it can be to paddle, rain or shine (though let’s hope for more shine!). Just make sure to wear the right outdoor clothing and remember, you might get wet even when it’s not raining – that’s just part of the kayaking experience!

In winter, we provide drysuits. In other months, we have waterproof kayak jackets available in case of rain. During thunderstorms or very strong winds, we may have to cancel or reschedule tours for safety reasons.

Most of our tours are beginner friendly and prior kayaking experience is not necessary. Good general physical condition, ability to swim and taste for adventure is enough to join the group.

Our kayak center is easily accessible and affordable via public transportation, with the bus stop located just 100 meters away. We highly recommend arriving by bus and returning by ferry for a scenic and enjoyable journey.

To reach us, take the T14 subway line towards Mörby Centrum. Upon arrival at Danderyds sjukhus station, transfer to bus 670, which stops at the Engarn station, a short walk from our center. For more detailed information, including schedules and routes, please visit the waxholmsbolaget.se website. Tickets for the subway and bus can be purchased at sl.se.
